An unusual event unfolded at the Australian airstrip last Thursday as a
traveler strolled across the aircraft’s upper surface.
Agents in Australia’s Melbourne airport apprehended any of their passengers who attempted to disembark from a stationed Jetstar aircraft through its emergency egress rends with a view to walking towards tarmac on flight JQ507 that had come in from Sydney.
Somebody – whose name has not yet been given – exhibited erratic behavior before finally unlatching the exit said Audrey Varghese, an eyewitness passenger.
Varghese further explained that “This person was behaving queerly. He stood up right as soon as the plane was landing, ran pushing into people; later he opened an emergency door.” Also another eyewitness revealed that he had had a vape while demanding for spirits throughout the journey (Flight JQ507).
Prior to being apprehended by Australian Federal Police officers, he was held back by ground staff and aircrew. The man was taken to the hospital for further assessment and is expected to face charges related to breaching aircraft safety protocols.
Melbourne Airport lauded the response of ground crew that ensured there was no immediate danger to other passengers or staff. The incident comes amid a global increase in unruly passenger behavior on flights.
Since late 2021, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in the US has referred more than 310 cases to the FBI for criminal prosecution review.
